Senior Associate, Risk Management

The Credit and Financial Risk Management Data Management Team is seeking a Senior Associate to partner and support data risk management initiatives, applying their risk, process management, and analytical skills to drive well-managed data risk activities. If you are curious and eager to learn new things (especially in the data risk and technology spaces), love problem solving, and have a deep reverence for risk and process management, this may be the role for you. 

Risk Management Senior Associates at Capital One are highly motivated risk and process management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. A successful risk specialist operates from a foundation of knowledge about good risk management and risk mitigation practices. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept. 

This individual will support data risk management activities for the Credit and Financial Risk Management organization. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, an excellent problem solver,  and be adept in prioritization and communication. Additional essentials for this role include building win-win partnerships with multiple stakeholders within the division, while adapting to and managing change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

• Monitor and support data risk management findings, including coordination and tracking of remediation plans as well as delivery of remediation evidence 

• Create and maintain data risk management artifacts (e.g., logs, reports, action plans, metadata, controls, data agreements, etc) in the systems of record as appropriate

• Coordinate deliverables and provide process support for audits and exams impacting data risk management

• Build understanding of the Risk Tech organization and risk practices unique to technology, while developing and maintaining strong relationships with our Risk Tech partners and key stakeholders

• Participate in team meetings and other risk forums by sharing knowledge, best practices, and other continuous improvements

• Participate in and execute other special projects for data management, as needed

• Build and maintain strong understanding of our Data Risk Management Framework and related Policy, Standards, and Procedures

• Provide support to Managing Data Stewards  

• Ensure timely deliverables, effective challenge, and escalation to identify risks and potential process improvements

• Deliver exceptional customer service

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

• At least 1 year of experience in risk management, project management, process management, or program management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree 

• 2+ years of experience in project, process, or program management

• 2+ years of experience in data risk management,

• 1+ years of experience working in a Risk Technology organization 

• 1+ years of experience with Control Management

• Strong problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently on day to day activities

• Strong prioritization and multi-tasking skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Plano, TX: $86,000 - $98,200 for Sr. Risk Associate

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
