Capital One’s enterprise-wide Anti- Money Laundering Program (AML) is looking for a dynamic Senior Director Chief of Staff to help us strive for our goal of preeminence and enhance our organizational effectiveness and engagement.
Capital One AML is a critical risk management function within the company’s Enterprise Risk Organization. We have a highly motivated, mission-driven team focused on enabling rigorous, nimble, and sustainable AML and Sanctions risk management across Capital One’s businesses, geographies, products, and services. Portions of our team serve as second line of defense compliance officers, while others operate first line of defense controls – such as transaction monitoring and customer risk rating models, list screening, financial crimes investigations, and the filing of reports with various governmental bodies for Capital One.
In this position, you will apply your strategic and organizational skills to key company challenges, serving as a trusted advisor to the Chief AML Officer (CAMLO) and their Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and as an important leader yourself across a large, diverse organization. You will provide critical strategic thinking and leadership in the areas of organizational effectiveness, culture, communications, business strategy, process governance and improvements, and partnerships with key stakeholders. And you will do it all in a collaborative, energetic environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous development, and rewards innovation.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Engagement: Operate as a key partner and thought leader with the CAMLO and their SLT in leading a highly engaged, world class team and AML organization. Partner with leadership team members to optimize operating rhythms and engagement strategies. Serve as the eyes and ears for the leadership team and the “go to” person for information and historical materials. Lastly, acts as an ambassador for the organization and participates in attracting, coaching, uplifting and retaining talent in the organization.
Executive Communication: Impeccable written and oral communication skills and attention to detail, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect and interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Strategic planning & execution: Assess current practices and continuously iterate on processes and management routines to advance our organizational vision and goals. Take ownership of goals, defining plans and delivering results. Own and manage processes around defining and communicating the organization’s strategic vision and goals, and planning while ensuring operational priorities are delivered with high quality.
High profile projects: Proactively identify opportunities to add value beyond what we’re currently doing or jump in when there’s no clear leader for a project. You’ll come up to speed quickly, use your experience and leadership skills to take the lead and ensure projects are delivered and resourced appropriately.
Strategic orientation: You have a proven track record of analytical thinking, decision making and problem solving. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a pragmatic and process orientation
People Leadership: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a small, high-performing team, as well as partners across AML and the enterprise. The culture you help build will foster innovation, drive critical decisions, and consistently deliver results. Clear results orientation: Have an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. Drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
At least 5 years of Process Management or Project Management experience
At least 3 years of People Leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree
2+ years of experience serving in a Chief of Staff role
