As a member of the Channels and Operations risk team within the Retail Bank Risk Office, you’ll be challenged to shape the risk mitigation strategy for one or more areas of Channels and Operations. You’ll work with various stakeholders to identify unmitigated risks and assist with opportunities to strengthen the control environment to reduce risks for the business while building lasting partnerships. This role will focus on risks and controls impacting one or more of our retail bank processing functions and help enable a well-managed risk environment.
Principal Risk Advisors at Capital One are highly motivated risk management professionals with an ability to think critically and problem solve. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to work with senior management to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company. Risk Advisors are expected to have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Participate in risk assessments to proactively identify potential risks to the business and work with key stakeholders to develop and drive solutions that remediate risks
Risk Consulting - Provide advice and guidance on risks and controls
Client Management - Develop and leverage relationships with Channels and Operations and functional stakeholders to enable collaboration across the enterprise
Issues Management - Identify and track issues and events to mitigate risk within Channels and Operations. Coordinate with applicable business areas to define and implement timely remediation activities
Process and Change Management - Support change control efforts at the process level to ensure impacts are appropriately assessed, documented and implemented
Audit and Exam Management - Provide support to Channels and Operations during audits and regulatory exams; support in the delivery of key risk mitigation and remediation activities
Leverage strong written and verbal communication skills to present risk topics to business and functional stakeholders
Implement and deliver on a subset of horizontal program deliverables
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 2 years of experience supporting Risk Management
At least 1 year Project Management experience
At least 1 year of G-Suite experience (such as Gmail, Slides, Sheets, Docs)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
3+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects or programs in Risk
3+ years of Financial Services risk management experience

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Risk SpecialistCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
