The Marketing Principal Associate will be a critical partner in shaping both our short term content strategy and long term strategic vision. Initial priorities will focus on attracting Card prospects through engaging inbound content, with a strong emphasis on our financial content hub and content-led SEO program. The Principle Associate will assist in driving our strategy beyond SEO to include distribution across additional channels, expanding content formats, and deepening engagement with customers throughout their journey
The ideal candidate will have experience turning audience and competitive insights into actionable digital marketing strategies, leveraging data to guide decisions, and collaborating with internal and external partners. To be successful, the Principal Associate will need to excel working in white space, build powerful cross-functional relationships and be comfortable interpreting multiple types of data and insights to inform recommendations. They should bring an audience-first mindset, ensuring that content strategies are rooted in customer needs and behaviors while aligning with business goals.
Responsibilities:
Partner with internal and external teams to select and publish the most relevant audience focused content each quarter that drives business outcomes
Champion the voice of the customer by ensuring all content addresses specific customer needs and aligns with business objectives
Lead the development and execution of a strategic inbound marketing agenda to attract prospects through in-bound marketing channels (SEO, Social, Email).
Design and execute content testing strategies to optimize creative, distribution and engagement approaches for maximum business impact
Leverage insights to shape outbound strategy content recommendations
Build and maintain strong partner relationships with internal and external teams to develop high-quality content
Serve as the primary liaison for cross functional collaboration, partnering closely with business analysts, marketing and channel teams, brand creative, risk / legal to ensure alignment and seamless execution.

Brings strong familiarity with SEO best practices and full-funnel digital marketing tactics to drive measurable business results
Is customer-focused, using audience and market research to understand needs and inform content decisions
Adapts their thinking across the full customer journey-from awareness to consideration and conversion
Leverages data to tell compelling stories, uncover insights, and identify new opportunities to lead, innovate and deliver results
Translates strategies into actionable testing plans that accelerate momentum and drive continuous optimization
Communicates clearly and persuasively, tailoring messages from different audience levels and stakeholder groups
Excels as a collaborative team player, fostering strong partnerships across internal team and with external partners
Brings experience managing agency relationships, including briefing, reviewing and providing actionable feedback
Manages project details, deadline and shifting priorities with accuracy and accountability
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
At least 3 years of hands-on experience executing multi-channel digital marketing campaigns, including Content Marketing and SEO, on either client side or at agency level
At least 3 years of experience leading digital marketing strategies and programs from concepts to execution
At least 3 years working with creative partners or agencies, either internally or externally.
At least 3 years of experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Marketing, Business or Communications
At least 3 years of marketing experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry
At least 3 years of experience with marketing analytics and optimization
At least 3 years leveraging audience insights, market research, and data analytics to develop detailed user profiles and segmentation strategies that inform content, messaging and channel optimization
Track record of effectively working autonomously and navigating ambiguity

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $117,300 - $133,900 for Principal Associate, MarketingCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
