Manager, Strategic Business Consultant, Enterprise Learning and Development

Capital One’s Enterprise Learning & Development team is seeking a Strategic Business Consultant to support the learning and development needs of the Experience Design organization. This person will be responsible for partnering with key leaders to shape and drive a learning agenda for hundreds of product designers, content designers, design researchers, design operators, and design leaders across the company.

The Experience Design team is at the forefront of enriching our customers’ digital and physical experiences and we are passionate about creating memorable, meaningful product experiences that build the Capital One brand with humanity and drive business advantage and innovation. In this role as a consultant you will engage with our stakeholders by aligning with the Experience Design organization’s strategy to determine learning needs and solutions.

We are looking for someone who can bridge the gap between design and learning teams–someone who has a deep understanding of human-centered design concepts and how designers interface with product managers, software engineers and other partners to deliver world class products and services, and who can translate those experiences into learner-centered solutions. Whether you’ve worked as a product manager, designer, or learning strategist in a tech environment, your ability to navigate this space and build alignment will be keys to your success. If you are energized by creative problem solving, creating transformational learning programs, building strong stakeholder relationships, and managing through complexity to deliver business impact–this role is for you.

The ideal candidate for this role is…

  • Fluent in Design principles: Understands the needs of designers and has experience supporting product and tech audiences

  • Bilingual in Learning + Human Centered Design: Skilled at translating design methodologies into effective learning strategies

  • Strategic Learning Partner: Stays current with emerging design trends and anticipates future learning needs for designers; thinks holistically; solves problems systemically; balances long-term learning vision with operational excellence and delivery rigor; brings structure to ambiguity and manages multiple priorities effectively.

  • Product-minded: Applies iteration, experimentation, and learner feedback to improve solutions for designers

  • Collaborative: Thrives in matrixed environments; builds alignment across Design, HR, Product, and L&D; values co-creation

  • Relationship Manager: Cultivates and strengthens stakeholder relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and mentor to nurture talent and foster collaborative team environments

  • Insight-driven: Uses feedback, data, and insights to drive decisions and continuous improvement

  • Storyteller: Communicates with clarity and influence across senior and technical audiences

This is a visible role with the ability to impact change across the company and drive meaningful solutions by shaping how technical learning is built and delivered at Capital One. To do this you will…

  • Partner with the Design Learning Accountable Executive and key Product stakeholders to co-create the annual strategic learning agenda to align on the vision, OKRs, operating model, and governance model while ensuring execution against strategy and integration across design and learning workstreams.

  • Partner with Product College to shape the learning strategy for the Human Centered competency track for Product Managers.

  • Bring a product development mindset to your work where you focus on working backwards from problem statements, rapid testing and iterations to develop solutions that learners love.

  • Collaborate with partners in Product College and Tech College on best practice sharing, peer learning, resource and prioritization needs to effectively deliver on the broader learning strategy.

  • Lead design and delivery of peer learning programs and iterate based on leader and learner feedback and impact data.

  • Project manage multiple initiatives within the team; leading program teams and also providing support at various capacity levels

  • Ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met, identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed

  • Own the measurement and evaluation strategy to ensure learning solutions are meeting the needs of learners

  • Collaborate on learner communications and external storytelling, sharing Tech College insights and outcomes.

Here is what you need to be successful:

  • Experience educating, onboarding, or supporting more technical roles such as product, tech, design or other technical talent

  • Familiarity with the product development lifecycle either through product, design, engineering, or enablement roles

  • High level of initiative, ownership, and a customer-centric mindset

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence at all levels

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, lead through change, and deliver in a matrixed environment

  • Ensure scope of deliverables, timelines and budget are met, identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed

  • Exceptional influence, written, and verbal communication skills to define and socialize our L&D strategy, where learning is a lever to optimally support the enterprise

  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify and prioritize points of leverage for business impact and scope for new initiatives

  • Partner with other Learning & Development professionals across the Enterprise to gain efficiencies, share best practices, and optimize how we interact

  • Leverage expertise in adult learning to inform the learning strategy and products

  • Comfort facilitating and leading training/workshops effectively, engaging associates at all levels
