Elevate your career with our Graduate Programs
Nini used customer research to make improvements to our mobile app. Vikas developed data pipelines that helped improve the safety of ATM transactions. Max helped product, financial data and design teams adopt an internal data platform that creates better experiences for customers.
All of their work was through Capital One’s Graduate Programs, which include 10 to 12-week summer internships and year-long programs after graduation focused on product management, data science, applied research in AI and investment banking.
With our graduate programs, you’ll create a positive difference for our customers and develop significant relationships with your colleagues that you can depend on for the rest of your career.
Meaningful work that helps customers
Nini joined the Product Graduate Program in 2023 with two goals: to be challenged and make a difference. She hit both goals almost immediately after joining the program on our Consumer Identity team as a product manager.
In her role, Nini oversees the platform that manages mobile sign-ins for millions of customers. She works with research partners to understand customer surveys, brainstorms how to encourage more people to sign up for passwordless authentication and communicates critical descriptions of what needs to be built to designers and software engineers.
“The Product Graduate Program brings in people from all sorts of backgrounds like business strategy, operations, military and customer service,” Nini said. “They equip us with the right resources and support to succeed.”
Vikas came to Capital One because he wanted to be at a place that merged banking and tech. During his time in the graduate-level Data Science Internship Program in 2022, Vikas worked with the Anti-Money Laundering team to help protect customers using ATMs. He developed machine learning models, and expanded his AWS knowledge, working within a cloud environment for the first time.
His internship laid the foundation for him to return in 2023 as a full-time senior data scientist to the Anti-Money Laundering Team after earning his Master of Science.
“I was making a difference for our customers, even as a student who was newer to the financial industry,” Vikas said.
Making lifelong connections
In our Graduate Programs, you’ll build lasting connections with everyone from your fellow cohort members to senior leaders who are invested in your growth.
The built-in mentorship network comforted Max, who spent nine years in the hospitality industry before earning his MBA and joining the Product Graduate Program in 2023. Without having worked extensively with data or the cloud, Max relied on his new community for guidance on everything from machine learning modules to providing actionable feedback.
“Many of us coming out with postgrad degrees have made a career pivot, so we’re navigating a new career,” said Max, a product manager for Enterprise Services and Platforms. “There’s a nice sense of security knowing Capital One creates a large community supported by experienced leaders who help us try, learn and succeed.”
Vera, a data science intern in 2020 and 2021, built her network through informal meet and greets with members of her program, managers and senior leaders. Since coming back to Capital One in 2022 as a principal data scientist for the Data Insights team, she’s turned to her community frequently for advice and insight to what other data scientists are doing here.
“Capital One is the place to be for really exciting work and a community that’s constantly boosting you up,” Vera said. “You’re going to learn a lot and come away with the confidence to make an impact.”
