We are seeking Platform Engineers who are passionate about creating seamless collaboration experiences. As part of a team that’s leading the next wave of unified communication services, you will play an integral role in the design, implementation and support of video conferencing and collaboration tools with a strong focus on simplification via automation.  As a Platform Engineer, Senior Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. This role combines technical expertise with leadership,  where you will champion and drive innovation while ensuring that all of our solutions remain secure, reliable and compliant.  

General Responsibilities:

  • Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of engineers with deep experience in Saas products, building integration with internal solutions to create enterprise grade solutions

  • Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.

  • Formulate a roadmap, prioritize work for the team, and build compelling longer term strategies

  • Work within and across Agile teams, SaaS vendors to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions

  • Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience and scalability of your solutions

  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, Continuously improve software engineering practices

  • Implement automation to elimination or prevent manual processes

  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with our vendors and ensure that they are meeting expected service levels and performance goals.

  • Work with product owners and stakeholders to business needs and recommend solutions

  • Effectively communicate across team, product owners, stakeholders and vendors to address business needs

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and collaborate with product owners to provide innovative ideas and insights in the design of new solutions

  • Continually research, test and stay up-to-date on new feature a functionality released from internal teams and or vendors

  • Be a talent magnet - recruit, motivate, mentor, and lead talent to be their best.

  • Document Platform architectures and features; Work with vendors to understand architecture and suitability to Capital One standards. Work closely with the Architecture team to align the platforms to the latest architecture and configuration.

  • Support and improve operational processes such as  governance, audit, legal & retention practices and standards

  • Encourage innovation, automation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity to a legacy process

  • Develop, and utilize best practices to enhance the overall user experience of the platform


Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 8 years of experience supporting enterprise SaaS Collaboration products, such as Slack, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or Gsuite

  • At least 3 years of experience with network infrastructure, including firewalls, proxy and network security

  • At least 3  years of experience with AWS

  • At least 4 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing strategic projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices

  • 2+ years of experience in scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, or Powershell)

  • Relevant certifications in Unified Communication technologies (e.g., Microsoft Teams Certified Engineer, Zoom Learning Center)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Lead Platform Engineer


Plano, TX: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Lead Platform Engineer


Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Lead Platform Engineer









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
