Business

 

Business Analytics

Who you are: With a knack for picking up complex ideas and high-level concepts quickly, you’re excited to learn something new every day. You might be exploring a range of subjects in the classroom, from financial forecasting and visual arts to economics and cognitive science.

What you'll work on: Turning numbers into insights, you’ll work with real-time data to solve problems end to end. This is an opportunity to drive impact with business-minded solutions, applying a mix of analytics, coding and consulting frameworks to formulate and scale business solutions.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Data Analytics

Who you are: Always ready to dive deep, you enjoy uncovering patterns with data to solve challenging problems. You gravitate toward analysis and can find practical applications. You’re intellectually curious and love unpacking insights from data mining and Machine Learning.

What you'll work on: Applying real-world techniques in a tech-forward environment, you’ll extract, clean and analyze large datasets. You’ll also develop predictive models, design and interpret A/B tests for Capital One products and create insightful visuals for business stakeholders.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Requirements: Business, engineering, finance, economics, mathematics preferred

Strategy Consulting

Who you are: Working with a highly driven team, you think big to find the right approach. You’re a critical thinker and enjoy taking on a leadership role. Autonomy is what powers you and you work best when you’re encouraged to lay the groundwork for your collaborators.

What you'll work on: Mirroring real business timelines and deliverables, you’ll develop three to four projects across the cycle. Whether it’s improving the credit card business or scaling a potential expansion, you’ll use the right tools to get the job done.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Finance

Who you are: You demonstrate leadership in campus organizations. With an interest in corporate finance and accounting, you’re curious about merging finance and business. Ready to tackle any problem leveraging data, you want to understand the ‘why’ behind the numbers.

What you'll work on: You’ll collaborate with a team to apply data visualization, modeling skills and software like SQL and Python. Expect to participate in financial forecasting and develop core analytical and quantitative skills to prepare for a future in either Finance or Technology.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Requirements: finance, accounting, math, business, economics, engineering preferred

Commercial Banking

Who you are: With a passion and interest in banking first, you’re looking for an opportunity to build on and own your expertise. You’re proactive and love exploring the world of Commercial Banking. You also enjoy tracking financial news and dreaming up ideas to apply to financial models.

What you'll work on: Partnering with a team, you’ll underwrite deals and plan annual reviews for portfolio accounts and ad hoc projects. You’ll analyze portfolio accounts and serve as an account manager. This is an opportunity to really understand the bank to business relationship.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Requirements: All majors welcome; finance, accounting, real estate, economics and mathematics preferred

Investment Banking

Who you are: You’re a numbers person and love improving on and theorizing economic and financial models. You enjoy building data-driven solutions to improve everyday processes and putting your knowledge to the test.

What you'll work on: Familiarizing yourself with portfolio reviews and financing deals, this is your chance to see corporate investment banking in action. You’ll train with the best while learning from the best as you explore deals, valuations, modeling and more.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Requirements: accounting, finance, economics, computer science, business, math, stats, information science preferred

Management

Who you are: It’s all in the name—you consider yourself a natural-born leader and enjoy taking the reins on group projects. You’re very involved in campus organizations and extracurriculars and fueled by future career mobility in a corporate or tech career.

What you'll work on: Collaborating with a team, you’ll take on projects covering Risk Management and strategy, gaining a good understanding of delivery management. Your projects will focus on how to drive the business forward as you work through professional development training.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Requirements: All majors are welcome; 3-4 examples of complex leadership preferred

Technology

 

Technology

Who you are: With an interest in tech, you get excited about the latest piece of software while being included in the overall innovation process. You like to work smarter, not harder, and have a basic understanding of code and how to apply it.

What you'll work on: Building on your coding skills, you’ll work on actual projects covering Risk Management across different business areas. You’ll understand how to use your solutions to move Capital One forward using the latest tools and languages.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Requirements: computer science, computer engineering, info technology, mathematics, engineering preferred. Candidates must have intermediate to advanced coding experience

Product

Who you are: You’re a natural relationship builder who can quickly spot problems and apply a solution. You enjoy articulating stories, tailoring the message for different audiences and understanding the ‘why’ behind decisions. You’re a high-level thinker and work effectively across teams.

What you'll work on: Bridging the gap between customer experience and product, you’ll walk away from this program with an understanding of how to uncover solutions and improve UX. You’ll confidently apply data to develop well-designed product experiences.

Length of program: 10 weeks

Requirements: All majors are welcome; engineering, mathematics, business, economics, statistics, computer science preferred
