Operational Risk Management (ORM) is seeking a self-motivated Senior Risk Manager to join its Central Operational Risk and Enablement Team (CORE). The CORE team provides strategic thought partnership and horizontal support, as well as providing operational risk challenges to staff functions.
This Senior Risk Manager will be responsible for a broad range of governance and oversight activities across ORM, ensuring key governance activities are executed timely and with quality outcomes. You will develop frameworks, requirements and expectations for ORM governance activities and will partner with key stakeholders across ORM to ensure we operate in a well-managed way and in accordance with policy requirements. Strong problem solving, integrative thinking, prioritization and communication skills are essential for role success.
Responsibilities:
Manage governance of the operational risk oversight program, including managing adherence to the operational risk oversight standard
Manage the Operational Risk Management policy
Serve as the plan manager for the ORM business continuity plan
Drive and/or support projects and process enhancements related to ORM governance activities based on defined priorities to ensure ORM is operating in a well-managed, organized and connected manner
Build and maintain relationships with and provide thought partnership to associates across ORM
Demonstrate problem-solving and analysis skills
Work and collaborate to identify process enhancements, create efficiencies, monitor and maintain program methodology, collaborate and interact with other

Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 3 years of experience in risk management, operational risk management, compliance or legal
At least 3 years of financial institution Risk Management
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors’ Degree
Experience in financial institution Risk Management experience, including developing and navigating risk management frameworks and methodologies
Project Management experience leading cross functional programs in Risk
Industry certifications in Risk Management (Certified Risk Management Professional, Certified Internal Auditor)
Experience working with policy, with an ability to read, analyze, and rationalize policy gaps or areas for improvement and consult with stakeholders to address

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr. Risk ManagerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
