The Senior Manager, Chief of Staff - Digital Commerce & Innovation (DCI) is a critical position responsible for developing, implementing, sustaining and/or evolving strategic areas of operational excellence foundational for the success of the DCI organization, which is part of the Card Technology division. Reporting to the Director, Chief of Staff - DCI, this role will both own and support strategic priorities and key project execution, collaborating regularly with DCI senior leaders and partners in Product, HR, Workforce, Finance, Associate Experience, Corporate Communications, Risk, and Global Workplace Solutions, ensuring operational rigor to enable our team and its leaders to advance our strategy at scale.
This role is paramount to the strategic management of business operations across a growing portfolio, requiring relationship development and influence across horizontal business and partner leaders and organizations. They will coordinate cross-functional input and ensure alignment between leadership and teams, playing a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement and operational success.
Responsibilities include
Partner closely with the Director, Chief of Staff - DCI and senior leaders to drive operational excellence across the organization by solving challenges, optimizing workflows, and implementing tools to improve efficiency, transparency, consistency, and scalability
Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand processes and drive results; ensuring that communications between departments is proactive, timely, consistent, and effective
Support strategic planning and operational management of budget and workforce in partnership with Finance, HR, Workforce, and senior leaders
Effective and autonomous project management for DCI and cross-departmental priorities from strategic ideation through tactical execution and follow up; Ensure the right metrics are in place to track and manage priorities, outcomes, risks, and budget
Own timely execution of horizontal routines and reporting deliverables related to strategic and operational priorities
Help develop and deliver the associate engagement and communications strategy with a focus on context, community, recognition, feedback, and events;
Swiftly develop a deep understanding of the organization’s strategy and vision so that you can lean into complex issues and influence as necessary
Proactively identify and elevate risks and impacts and make key linkages within our teams and the broader organization timely
Maintain or evolve communication channels to provide timely updates to ensure continuous alignment and required awareness

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
At least 8 years of work experience in strategy, organizational operations or development, change management, project / process / program management, or chief-of-staff functions
At least 3 years of experience managing executive-level stakeholders across different business functions
At least 2 years of experience involving organizational design, staffing, budgets, talent, and/or culture strategy
Experience creating and delivering communications planning and development, including department communications, leadership team meetings, presentations, and reports
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 10 years of work experience in strategy, organizational operations or development, change management, project / process / program management, or chief-of-staff functions
At least 5 years of experience managing executive-level stakeholders across different business functions
At least 4 years of experience involving organizational design, staffing, budgets, talent, and/or culture strategy
At least 2 years of experience working with cross-functional teams in Tech, Product, Design, and/or Data
Experience developing and/or executing employee engagement strategy (talent and culture)
Experience owning end-to-end communications strategic planning and execution, including department communications, leadership team meetings, presentations, and reports

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Chief of StaffCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
